The Libertines not playing shows 'for the foreseeable future'
Band release statement to clear up reports
The Libertines' management have spoken to NME to clear up rumours about the band playing live again this year.
Earlier this month co-frontman Carl Barat said that UK festival shows could be on the cards for 2011. But following further reports about potential gigs doing the rounds, he and the band's team have said that performances are now unlikely.
A newspaper report today (February 28) suggested that Barat's solo deal with the PowerAmp company also had connotations for the London four-piece's plans.
The band's spokesperson said: "Contrary to press reports today, The Libertines are not involved in any deal with PowerAmp music and no shows are scheduled for the foreseeable future whilst all members continue to work on their individual projects."
The Libertines made their live comeback at the Reading And Leeds Festivals last August, but haven't played together since.
Barat is continuing to play solo gigs, while bandmate Pete Doherty also has an extensive solo touring schedule this year. http://www.nme.com/news/the-libertines/55211 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ahora la buena Libertines documentary to premiere at London's East End Film Festival
Carl Barat posts announcement on Facebook
Carl Barat has announced that a documentary about The Libertines will premiere at this year's East End Film Festival in London.
Watch a work-in-progress clip from the documentary by scrolling down and clicking below.
Barat posted details about the film, which is directed by NME photographer Roger Sargent, on his Facebook page, explaining that it will be shown in April at the event.
The East End Film Festival takes place at various venues across London from April 27 to May 2, with Barat confirming Sargent's Libertines film will be shown on the festival's opening day.
Last year the Barat-narrated film No Place/Good Place: The Rime Of The Modern Mariner was shown at the festival.
Meanwhile, The Libertines' management have said that the band are unlikely to play any gigs this year.
Barat will release his new solo single 'Death Fires Burn At Night' on April 4.

Pete Doherty shows 'emotional depth' in new film role, says director
Libertines man was 'on time every day' for filming of 'Confession Of A Child Of The Century'
Pete Doherty has been praised by the director of a new film he's starring in - and not just for turning up to the set on time every day.
The singer is appearing in Sylvie Verheyde's Confession Of A Child Of The Century, a new French film about the 19th century poet and dramatist Alfred de Musset.
Doherty plays the character of Octavian, a 19th century dandy, in the movie.
Verheyde The Guardian that Doherty shows "emotional depth" in the role.
"It went really well. I wasn't a fan before and of course I knew his reputation, but I laid down the rules and he kept them. He was on time every day, he didn't turn up with a hangover and he never missed a single shoot," she commented.
Verheyde continued: "He was much more pleasant and less of a pain than many professional actors. He's cultivated, literary, sincere and has emotional depth."
According to the newspaper, Doherty's role involves "doing what he does best - mooching around appearing doleful and wrecked".
The Libertines man has previous blogged about the role on his website, Albionrooms.com, claiming that it demanded he displayed "natural grace and poise". http://www.nme.com/news/pete-doherty/56006

Carl Barat: 'There is no Libertines future'
Frontman speaks out in new issue of NME
Carl Barat has said that there is "no future" for The Libertines with things standing as they are between him and Pete Doherty.
The frontman was speaking in the new issue of NME, which is on UK newsstands tomorrow (May 11) or available digitally. In the interview he alluded to a bust-up with co-frontman Doherty and suggested that the pair's relationship is too damaged for more band commitments to take place.
"We are all in very different places," he said. "Right now is not the time for The Libertines. I thought the water under the bridge was under the bridge, but maybe it's not. It's a very fucking hard thing. Every time we talk it just brings it back up."
He added: "I don't believe we're healed from the hurt. If our herts heal up then we can break them all over again. But right now… it's hard."
Barat was speaking to NME at the recent London premiere of new Libertine documentary There Are No Innocent Bystanders, directed by Roger Sargent. Get the new issue of the magazine for the full interview plus chats with the other band members, previously-unseen pictures from the premiere and a review of the film.
